Cape Town

21 11 2012

Cape Town and environs is an incredibly beautiful city. The view of the iconic Table Mountain from the Edgemead or Monte Vista suburbs and especially from the beach of Blaauwbergstrand is breathtaking.

It is a pleasure destination for thousands of visitors and especially from the United Kingdom and rapid growth from the United States. Besides simply lazing around the great restaurants of the Waterfront or energetically drag yourself to the cable car (actually not much energy needed) to scale the heights of the mountain and enjoy the views and force a cappuccino at the restaurant or even have a meal while watching the Dassies (Cape Rock Hyrax – Closest relative to the Elephant) scampering around the rocks.

You could take a drive around the majestic mountain along the coast road or for the more adventurous jump in a car and do the 3 passes tour from Stellenbosch around Hell’s Hoogte Pass (Hells heights pass) to Franschhoek and be blown away by the culture smack in the face as you enjoy world-renowned restaurants and the French atmosphere of the French Huguenots. Drive over the mountain towards Theewaterkloof dam and on to Elgin over the Franschhoek pass.

if you can drag yourself from the stop overs and beautiful orchards and soft fruit carry on towards Gordon’s Bay crossing the Sir Lowry’s Pass the last of the three passes with incredible views of the False Bay and the beaches of the Strand all around to Simonstown Harbour.

Oh well my mental trip ends here…enjoy!
