The greatest country in the world-2010

17 09 2009

005Yes, I knew you would also admit it must be South Africa! With a reputation of violence and Apartheid we still are a peaceful country with abundant love for our fellow countrymen.

How can I say this? Well, I have just returned from a trip to the rural heart of South Africa in the old homeland of Kwandabele with a team of American missionaries. The love and acceptance of the people just continues to amaze me at the level of forgiveness and goodwill which resides in the hearts of South Africans.

Besides this there is much we can proclaim like the famous Pratley putty designed by SA Engineer George Pratley which helped Neil Armstrong make his historic steps onto the Moon…yes we went beyond international! We are the 22nd largest economy in the world(BY GDP) with a land mass which is 32nd largest being 4 times the size of Germany and 1/3 the size of the European Community. Our famous Dolos provides safety for many harbours and waterways as designed by SA Engineer E M Merrifield. San Francisco and New York can take a bow for his dolos which protects the waterways of these two great cities.Talking about water …most of the pools are kept clean by a SA invention…the Creepy Crauly! Not only are we inventive but also seen to be one of the lowest cost places to do business in the world!
Our telecom industry is the most developed in Africa and the 23rd most developed in the world…so much for living in the jungle:)
Don’t start me on sports!!!! Our rugby teams are not only the Super 14 champs but the Springboks are the World Champions as is shown by the magnificent and rampart Springboks in beating the best opposition and taking the three nations tournament from New Zealand and Australia (All Blacks and Wallabies)…then our Cricket teams have also been all conquering and unlike the US our World cup is actually against the rest of the world and not just an internal struggle between the States. Considering our volume of athletes we do exceptionally well against the rest of the world! Please do not see this as gloating but read the smile on my face as we are also aware that as successful as we are it can change in the blink of an eye.

We love the blessing of the Lord on our country as we are over 80% Christian. With that I welcome all to our 2010 World Cup Football festival.
