Da Vinci Code Confusion

22 11 2007

heretics.jpgDan Brown was completely confused in his writings on the early history of Christianity. What he did not realise was that there was a lot of resistance to the Word and that many developed there own views and so the Heretics became a massive movement as did the Pagans who held to the traditional beliefs of the Roman empire with the many Gods for all purposes. One of the main teachings which reflected Christianity (but was definitely not) was that of the Arians who broke from the Nicaene Creed slightly but enough to deny who Jesus was. This battle continued for many years and only came to an end after incredible atrocities and mass killing of Christians until the time of Valens who was the Eastern Empires King.

When the Arian Bishop of Milan died a new Bishop was to be appointed and the Christian Bishop Ambrose was appointed. In those days it was clearly known who represented Christianity and who did not. Yes, there was a number of “Gospels” and other biblical sounding books written by the Heretics, Pagans and the Arians amongst others, but none were accepted by the main stream church so there was no “cover up” as Dan Brown would like us to believe but instead a major fight against deception and lies which continues today.

The Christian communiaty and even the children knew who the players were as the story of children playing with a ball in the street showede. The boys were playing and the ball rolled beneath the ass on which the prominent Arian, Lucius was riding. As he passed the ball back the boys recognised him and dropped the ball. Intrigued he watched as they rushed off and started a small fire through which they passed the ball while calling out, “burn off the sin like he will in eternity”!

This was the time of persecution and martyrdom and burning was rather commion place!

The point is that there were many societies and most were secret as they vied for favor from the ruling Emperor as it gave power and authority. History shows that the only group who did not consolidate power and use persecution to drive this base initially were the Christians. We know the insanity later among the Catholic Church but we are talking about the original establishment of church within the first 300 years AD.

Back to the Bishop appointed. He was the main defender of the faith as some complex heresies developed like Gnostism which was a mixture of Christianity and Pagan beliefs as well as Neoplatonism, Zoroastrianism and a dirivutive called Manichaeism from th e known Heretic, Mani!

We will be looking at these and the persecution caused in more detail later.
