Change your life in 30 days II-the blame game

16 07 2007

I saw some graffiti saying, “Humpty Dumpty was pushed”. That displays our blame shifting culture exactly! It is always someone else at fault. If it is not referees who are not up to the job and are of course as blind as a bat then it is the boss who is such a simpleton he cannot understand what pressure you are under and the fault you cause is therefore attributable to his bad management. The US has a culture of punishing any mishap with a law claim and suing seems to be the national pastime. Surely “someone else” must be at fault and called to account and pay for what they have done or omitted to do or possibly could do:)

Studies show that it is proportionate to the degree that a victim blames someone else for his mishap to that degree is it more difficult to cope. Anger, hurt and pain could continue for years and the question, “why me” will never be answered. This blocks the ability of restoration by forgiveness and a release of the anger and pain.

To be angry, bitter and resentful is sinful in God’s eyes and I am sure because He knows what it does to you mentally as well as physically. Stress is the number one killer today! Living with hurt and anger increases your blood pressure and causes stress.

The bible encourages us to be kind and compassionate to one another because it knows how that can counter the emotions of anger and hurt. (Read Job 5;2)

Ephesians 4;32 says, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you.”
