The Luke Watson saga

13 11 2008

Luke Watson, now better known as “puke” Watson, has had his few minutes of fame for his comment of the urge to puke on the Springbok jersey when representing the rugby Springboks. He contends this is a painful reminder of the apartheid past and brings about dissension.

He also refuses to play for the national side while that emblem remains on the jersey.

A few corrections seem to be in order. The Springbok emblem was on the jersey alongside the national flower from the earliest memory of the Springboks and numerous famous persons of colour have played in that same jersey. No mention of long held hurts were ever mentioned. Read the rest of this entry »

Luke Watson madness

22 10 2008

Recently Luke Watson has been quoted as saying in a “private” meeting that he was revolted by the Springbok rugby jersey and wanted to “vomit” on the Jersey! Of course this has caused a major uproar in South Africa which is known for it’s rugby crazed populace….of which i am one and a supporter of the Stormers!

Are you a Christian?

2 10 2008

This may seem a silly question, because you go to church, so what is the question about? Well, many of us attending churches are not necessarily Christians or following in His teachings. How do we know if we really are Christians and what does a REAL Christian look like?

Entrepreneurship, The Virgin way

2 10 2008

We have been actively involved in Entrepreneurship for the past 12 years in different activities. It is not really the activity of Entrepreneurship that is so important but who the target for these activities are! I have noted the amount of training colleges and private schools for Entrepreneurship and recently did a study on the costs for attendance of these schools as well as a look at the curriculum.

My results did not particularly surprise me. Read the rest of this entry »

Shock, Horror Shriek and Gasp

1 10 2008

These were the words and feelings when discovering I do not have my laptop and cannot even recall where i left it! How our lives revolve around the contents of this metal and mineral beast we lug around and now cannot live without!

I spoke at a Law firm and was distracted as there were more people than seats and therefore i put my laptop case (with laptop) on the floor next to my seat. I know you know what I did! I moved up a seat to allow others to get in. After the talk two wanted to ask me somethings and i knew I had to get home as my son needed to get to the Orthodontist and i was the days allocated Mr Mom! Read the rest of this entry »

The Word -Apostasy:)

29 09 2008

Members of my church have requested we look at Revelations and more specifically Chapter 17 which speaks of the Whore of Babylon. For those who know me I am not really an end time person and prefer preparing myself for the Bridegroom than initiating actions against the “Beast”. As I looked at these scriptures some amazing things started to happen in my heart and deep truths seeped into my very being that i want to share with you.

Idol worship!

3 09 2008

One may wonder what did God have against the Canaanites that he ordered Joshua to eradicate them from the face of the earth. When we investigate the practices in Canaanite cities of that time in archaeological digs it becomes obvious.

The principle idol or God of the Canaanites was Baal. The feminine version was Ashtoreth. The Babylonian name for Ashtoreth was Ishtar and the Greek was Astarte. You would read about the poles in the “high Places” which was the Ashtoreth poles which simply symbolized the male sexual organ.  Read the rest of this entry »

Flood- Real or imagined

3 09 2008

In discussions with even well meaning believers we have often heard that question that what if the Bible were not the truth and how can we believe some of the weird stories of the bible. Well I have questioned as you have and went to factual proof although I must admit that I do not believe we must only rely on factual proof. The Bible is geared to be difficult to belief UNLESS you engage faith which is the belief of the unseen because of who He is. This is what makes it difficult!

I must admit I would have it no other way because how else can we believe in this incredible God who loves us to the extent that he has sacrificed His son for our sins while we were and still are a sinful nation.

Let’s look at some of the factual proof!

Ancestral worship – Christianity

26 08 2008

In South Africa you would find on the census that the majority are “Christians”. This statistic is unfortunately flawed as we need determine what is Christian versus what is Animism or Ancestral Worship. The reason being is that the largest church in South Africa are the ZCC who believe in “Christianity” but also believe in Animism or Ancestral Worship. These two are incompatible!

Ancestral Worship is one of the oldest religions known to man and is when one worships inanimate objects (like trees or the moon) and ancestors.

God has designed us to seek a higher force and all have that desire in him and therefore we through all cultures and in all geographic areas seek a higher being. We seek him in what we see or cannot understand and try to continue the relationship of educator and adviser that parents have after they have passed away.

It is easy to understand why we, as practising Christians, have a direct instruction to advise all of the “good news” or Gospel. That is that one need not look to dead objects or family members, but that there is a living God who desires to love and care for you.   Read the rest of this entry »

New Age Church Vs Home Church

25 08 2008

I have been asked by a well meaning acquaintance about our church and if I feel comfortable doing what we do. This question obviously had me wondering and only once I started to ask question the full meaning of the question became obvious.
