Unfortunately politics impacts directly on your life. Therefore it becomes an area that continually needs be discussed and assessed. However, today I want to talk about much more important things.
I would like to talk about God’s promises.
Throughout the bible we see promises of God to His people. Let’s first stand still and look at this. Who is “His people”? That is very easy. If you believe in Him and have called on His son, Jesus you are “His people”.
Rom 4:20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
Rom 4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Romans tells us that the secret to Abrahams spiritual achievements is to be found in his recognizing and clinging to the promises of God. He was not overwhelmed or “staggered back” because of the mystery of God’s divine plan for him. Today we would simply call “mystery” unbelief because we are so educated we know better than believe those incredible promises. (our education supersedes God’s ability it would seem)
Unlike us, Abraham was completely convinced that God was able and willing to do all He promised.
Remember that Abraham became the wealthiest and most blessed in his time.
The famous evangelist Charles Spurgeon says that Gods promise is like a signed cheque. “We must treat this promise as a reality, as a man treats a cheque.”
Because these promises were made long ago we tend to think they are no longer valid. To God 1 day can be as a 1000 years so who are we to decide if His promises have fallen away or not. He does not work in our time zone and His promises never g “stale” like a cheque! He is the same today as He was yesterday will be tomorrow. The actual question is not if the promises are relevant today , but where are those promises!
To find them you must actually search for them! The good news is that there is an estimated 30,000 promises in God’s word!
These promises are hidden in open view. You need to simply read the Word! Admittedly, there are some that are for specific purposes and bound to time frames and therefore not valid for you today. Yet there are many that are valid for you today!
He promised to forgive and cleanse from sin. That is not time bound and is valid for you today! However, there is a condition to this promise and that is that you repent of your sin and ask forgiveness!nAs He promised to guide in the past, so He promises to guide in the present and future. If we are sensitive to listen and willing to respond to what He is saying or guiding.
As for promises for the future the only certain thing is change! It is understandable why many fear the future with Man’s enormous destructive ability and capacity to cruelty. Therefore, insecurity and anxiety grips many. Our certainty as believers in an ever-changing world is that we have an unchanging God. The promises He has made He will keep/ He is trustworthy and dependable.
He has made promises for His children. The heart of God moves for His children constantly purposes of grace. As we study the bible we see in history that those who stand on the Word of God and His promises were able to endure and have persevered to go on to greater things real achievement. Yes, at times it does include financial and physical well-being.
Consider the lives of David, Job, Joshua, as well as Ruth and Esther. D L Moody was asked what the inscriptions in his bible was with many p, t and tt’s marked. He responded by saying the p’s were promises while the t were promises he had tried. All t’s had tt”s which indicated that he had tried them and found them to be “true”.
Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
In other words, your number of p’s would be determined by the number of t’s that are not only promises but have been tried and found to be true!
The best promise is that to those who do not know Him. God’s desire is to redeem us from our sins and share His everlasting creation with Him. To do this He even sent His son to pay for our sins. Therefore forgiveness is promised on condition of repentance (simple acknowledgement that we are sinful) and regret or put in religious speak asking forgiveness. He promises that if we do this we would one day be in heaven with Him! Wow!
