Enough of the political garbage / God’s promises

Unfortunately politics impacts directly on your life. Therefore it becomes an area that continually needs be discussed and assessed. However, today I want to talk about much more important things.

I would like to talk about God’s promises.

Throughout the bible we see promises of God to His people. Let’s first stand still and look at this. Who is “His people”? That is very easy. If you believe in Him and have called on His son, Jesus you are “His people”.

Rom 4:20  He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
Rom 4:21  And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Romans tells us that the secret to Abrahams spiritual achievements is to be found in his recognizing and clinging to the promises of God. He was not overwhelmed or “staggered back” because of the mystery of God’s divine plan for him. Today we would simply call “mystery” unbelief because we are so educated we know better than believe those incredible promises. Julius Malema has come out to question Judge Colin Lamonts remarks on the notorious “hate speech” judgement. That is not a concern that he questions a judge but what is of concern, is the manner in which he questioned the judge. The other concern is what he questioned about!

Amphictyony : Greek: ἀμφικτυονία

Although this derives from the ancient Greek city/states where individual leadership was required until the concept of unity of groups was developed, it caused continuous mini wars and fear. In the time of the Judges in the old testament the same effect came about. The nation of Israel continued to fall into the habits of those they did not drive out after the period of Joshua. These were the Canaanites. As the Israelites fell into the traditions of the Canaanites (and therefore sin) it inevitably went bad until a “Judge” (leader) was raised. This leader was a military individual (Even Deborah had a military viewpoint even though she was a prophetess). It would go well for a period until the same problem arose. After the peace and well-being brought about by Joshua the time of Judges and Ruth was of turmoil and continual upheaval with war and strife continuously.
