What was that about?

6 08 2009

I met with a friend a while ago and we were talking about church. That is not so unusual as I Pastor a church but what struck me was when we had left and I mulled through what was being said and came to the realisation that I did not have the faintest idea of what he had said!

Is that how my non-Christian or even some Christian brothers feel?

He was talking about “post-Modern societal angst” or something like that, which was apparently the cause of a lot of the ills we see today. Then a visiting friend from Switzerland went to a mission organization to research what they are doing in the gender area. My son and I had coffee and talked about his future at university.
When she returned and we drove back to Stellenbosch she was telling us that there was this team of 5 doing communication and the battle to keep the organisation informed of what is happening within the organisation. They print a magazine 4 times a year as all may not have inetrnet access.  This also struck me!

If you are a mission organisation and your resources are going into the maintenance of your administrative areas then what is your mission? I have been battling with what we as church are doing and what I am seeing in the bible and sorely need your response to these confusing thoughts.

We are the Shepherds of the flock! Who are the flock and where are they? What does it look like to shepherd a flock?
Once we have a lamb surely we protect it from the elements and wild animals while leading it to nourishing fields and refreshing clean and wholesome water.
A farmer friend told me that the Karroo lamb farmers lose about 35% to jackals. These can be brought down to 1-2% if put in kraals at night until age 3-5 months where they are more able to fend for themselves. That is amazing! Then why don’t farmers do this? The cost versus return is not suitable apparently.
Is it that our cost versus return is too high to love a non believer into the fold and not to impress with our fancy concepts and language that we are of no help to anyone, but our own selective small bunch of those “in the know”?
Sin is still sin as love is love and the Bible has not changed since inception and will not change irrespective of all the fancy attempts at deciphering hidden messages and new texts!
Folks, Jesus was spoken about from time immemorial and came to earth 2000 odd years ago for about 30 years and died to pay for your sin and everlasting life was on offer. If you stop doing evil (repent) and invite him (through the Holy Spirit…an unseen being/spirit of Him) into your life then you are on the path to eternity with Him. Want to know more? Go to a basic Bible believing church or feel free to contact me on this blog!
I promise to talk in language that is simple and biblically based! One condition though…You will have to read the Bible to ask me the questions you do not understand.
Looking forward to it
