The reputation of Christians are tattered as reports of Christian leaders who have fallen become more and more regular. Why is it that such great joy is had at the demise of someone? Could it be the manner in which they portrayed their superiority because of their beliefs? Could it be because of how the world sees and perceives Christians? I beleieve it is partly because when one falls then you can say, “see, we are all fallible and I am not so bad after all”! Whatever the emotion I believe it bears a little looking at. I believe the problem is not the falling into sin so much (although one must admit that it is tragic and devastating irresepective who it is) but the way we as practicing Believers portray ourselves. The finger wagging knowing better attitude that often is the “weapon” of the “Christian” is what allienates others from hearing the message of love. All they hear is the message of how bad you are and you are directly on the way to hell.
I believe we have a loving, merciful and gracsious God who is also a Righteous God. What is meant is that He loves you as an adopted son but will still hold you accountable for your sin and therefore it is vitally important that you repent of your sin and turn from it and I would further suggest place mechanisms preventing it to continue. This mixture of love from Him and wisdom from you will hold you to one day meet with Him in glory. If another falls short and indeed sins it is not for us to try and be that judge as it is God’s duty while ours is to try to bring the sinner in a right relationship with God once more. That does not happen by hitting him on the head with a plank!
I encourage you to consider what is said here and consider changing the world with understanding and love!
