What to do when your heart is ripped(how to advise someone of a death)

Yesterday, was a normal day and as I drove home I arrived at my door to be welcomed by my wife with tears in her eyes. Amid gasps and a soft tear she told me about the death of a dear and beloved friend in Yemen while on a trip.

In reading the latest posting of Floyd McClung (see link to Floyd McClung and All Nations) on fruit in your life it had me thinking of a piece I read of Benny Mostert which touched me deeply as he speaks on Spiritual Fruit and I felt I should share some thoughts too.

One often hears Christians talk about dying unto self as the Word instructs we should do but the lives we see do not reflect this giving of ones life and the humility that goes with it. What is it to “die to self” and why.

Why we do missions

There are obvious answers to this statement and then there are not so obvious answers and this short posting is to look at some of these.

In reading the letters of Paul to the Thessalonians this morning, I am once more reminded of our function and the warning that it will not be a bed of roses! So, what is our function and what is the worse that can happen?

Is the return of Jesus imminent?

I had a call last night by a dear friend and as we chatted he suddenly asked me if i think Jesus is about to return! This is what they call out of left field and my immediate answer was yes of course as the Word says that He will arrive like a thief in the night and we are to have our lamps lit!

Our local radio station is running a competition to find the greatest song ever. This has made me think and wonder what song would I choose and why would I choose it, as well what song would you choose as the greatest song ever?

PLaying the game…Rugby and Cricket

South Africa has powered beyond the English side in both Cricket (twenty 20 version) and in rugby at France with a winning scoreline of 36-0. My comment is not on the game but on another aspect which is becoming a talking point although a soft rumble at present!

Open Letter to the Director

This is the most amazing letter by a person who has just sinned in adultery with a beautiful lady called Bathsheba. What makes it astounding is that he had just been visited by the priest and the love and forgiveness with a strong hand must have been beyond belief!

Atheists

I refer to a comment by “Vjack” who placed a comment made by another individual on my blog. I have visited the blog, “Atheist Revolution” which is hosted by Vjack and would like to make some comments myself.
